American Classics showcases the rich
heritage of piano music and Operatic Arias
from the 20th Century by notable American
Composers, including Copland, Barber,
Cowell, Baker, and Adams. The piano works
combine jazz rhythms and melodies with
classical forms and compositional
techniques to create innovative works with a
singularly American rhythmic flavor. The
Arias illustrate the uniquely American
approach to setting words in song.
Pamela Olsen recently appeared as
Flosshilde in Wagner’s Das Rheingold with
the NJ Baroque Orchestra; and as Isolde,
Sieglinde, and Carmen in concert versions of
Wagner’s Tristan & Isolde and Die Walküre,
and Bizet’s Carmen. She has appeared as
soloist in Fauré’s Requiem at St. Patrick’s
Cathedral and in Mozart’s Coronation Mass
and Vespers Solemnes at the First
Presbyterian Church in Redbank, NJ.
